Make the Pontifical Academy for Life Catholic Again!

When the Pontifical Academy for Life was created by St. John Paul the II, it's
purpose was to combat the culture of death by building a culture of life.
I had the distinct pleasure to serve three terms on the Pontifical Academy for
Life under both Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI.
When Pope Francis "cleaned house" at the Pontifical Academy for Life,
many of us feared that certain voices
would try to bend Catholic moral teaching on abortion and
euthanasia.
Those fears were realized by Archbishop Vicenzo Paglia, the current president
of the Pontifical Academy for Life who serves at the pleasure of Pope Francis
himself.
Italy is
currently debating assisted suicide. The
archbishop and the academy attempted to clarify his statement by saying he was
morally opposed to assisted suicide but “understood” the legal reasoning behind
support of it in certain circumstances.
It’s a lie. This is precisely the sort of confusion caused by the smoke
of Satan which clouds the hallways and minds of those in the Vatican.
Unlike many other pro-life organizations, American
Life League often stands alone in the pro-life movement as the sole
voice working to protect and defend the lives of every innocent human
being without compromise or exception -- from earliest beginning to natural
death.
One particular donor called my son, Hugh, and was so outraged by what was
happening to the legacy of Pope John Paul II that he pledged to match up to $50,000 in funds we will
use to identify pro-lifers within the Pontifical Academy for Life
(such are the times!!) and insist that Pope Francis remove Paglia for good.
Pope John Paul II was clear that abortion and euthanasia are intrinsically evil
acts which can never be justified under any circumstances by laws or men.
This is the Magisterium of the Catholic Church, defended and defined in
both Veritatis Splendor and Evangelium Vitae in
clear, direct terms which command the assent of EVERY faithful Catholic.
Pope Francis now must make a choice. Either Pope John Paul II and Pope
Benedict XVI... or the likes of Archbishop Paglia.
I intend to make sure that he does.
But without your support? Paglia and his confederates will laugh those of
us loyal to the memory of Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI out of the
room.
It is time for the Pontifical Academy for
Life to be "pro-life" again!
