Records show at least 10k NYC teachers losing jobs over COVID shot mandate

(LifeSiteNews) — According to shocking new data obtained from the New York City Board of Education (BOE), 5,399 teachers were fired in 2022 for refusing the Covid shot and an additional 112 were fired in 2023, causing an “astronomical brain drain” from the school system.
At least 16,718 teachers resigned in 2022, a number that “includes vaccine related terminations,” meaning that educators who were forced out of their jobs due to the city’s COVID-19 mandate is likely well over 10,000.
“Based on my very quick read of these documents, this means NYC lost at least 10,000 teachers due to the Covid shot mandate,” Michael Kane said in a Teachers for Choice Substack post.
“This number includes all professional pedagogues (teachers, principals, psychologists, social workers, counselors, etc. …) but does not include paraprofessionals, nurses, therapists, secretaries or support staff within the education system,” Kane explained.
“10,000 is likely a huge underestimate!” he averred.
“We lost 5,399 teachers who were flat out fired, and now 50% of all New York City school kids can’t read or write at grade level,” said attorney Jimmy Wagner, who obtained the documents through a Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) request. “There’s a direct correlation, a direct connection. You fired your best teachers and now your kids can’t read or write.”
“That’s all on the Democrats’ watch” Wagner added.
The tenured educators were fired “with no due process,” Wagner said in a videoposted to X.
“We have not heard a peep from Governor Kathy ‘the scab’ Hochul,” Wagner said. “We have not heard a peep from Mayor (Zohran) Mamdani. We have not heard a peep from the UFT (the United Federation of Teachers).”
“All we hear is ‘Trump, Trump, Trump,” Wagner said, but “Trump had nothing to do with New York City Democrats firing (5,399) tenured teachers.”
