Canadian school accused of secretly ‘transitioning’ 8-year-old boy without parents’ consent
Teachers at an NDP-run school used a different name and pronouns for a boy without telling his parents and even arranged with a psychologist to discuss puberty blockers, according to an MLA.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (LifeSiteNews) — A British Columbia school has been accused of secretly “gender transitioning” an 8-year-old boy without parental knowledge or consent.
During an October 9 session in the British Columbia’s legislature, Independent Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) Dallas Brodie revealed the schools run by the New Democratic Party (NDP) are encouraging young children to attempt to change their gender at school without telling their parents or asking for parental consent.
“I spoke to a father who is here today, who is fighting to protect his 8-year-old son,” she shared. “His boy was encouraged at school to believe he was actually a girl.”
According to Brodie, teachers used a different name and pronouns for the young child, without telling his parents. They also arranged with a psychologist to discuss puberty blockers.
Brodie challenged the NDP on its school policies, questioning if it supports secretly “transitioning” children in schools. Under the NDP, provincial schools follow SOGI 123, a nation-wide program pushing LGBT ideology in schools under the label of “inclusivity.”
“My question through you, Mr. Speaker, to the premier: what do you have to say to parents who are justifiably enraged by the reality that, under your direction, schools are transitioning children behind their backs?” she pressed.
However, instead of taking responsibility for their pro-LGBT policies, BC Deputy Premier and Attorney General Niki Sharma dodged the question and accused Brodie of spreading “misinformation.”
“Spreading disproven conspiracy theories to spread fear and misinformation that targets vulnerable kids – when those decisions should be made by their parents with the love and support they provide them and the doctors,” Sharma said.
“We really disagree with this type of politics. We’re sorry to all those families out there that are going through this, and the kids out there that are hearing this – I’m sorry,” she said, failing to offer a solution to the crisis.

While Sharma labelled the incident as “misinformation,” several parents have come forward across Canada to warn that schools are secretly encouraging “gender transitioning” for young children.
In 2024, LifeSiteNews reported that Ontario parents were outraged after learning that public schools did not ask for parental consent before socially “gender transitioning” their children, resulting in child-parent relationships being torn apart.
Many Ontario schools boards, including the York Region District School Board, Thames Valley District School Board, and the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board, have policies requiring a student’s permission before parents can be informed of their child’s decision to “gender transition.”
While Liberal and NDP provincial schools work to withhold information from parents, both Alberta and Saskatchewan have introduced legislation to ensure parents are informed of their children’s decisions in school.
Despite the claims of LGBT activists, a significant body of evidence shows that “affirming” gender confusion carries serious harms, especially when done with impressionable children who lack the mental development, emotional maturity, and life experience to consider the long-term ramifications of the decisions being pushed on them, or full knowledge about the long-term effects of life-altering, physically transformative, and often irreversible surgical and chemical procedures.
Studies find that more than 80 percent of children suffering gender dysphoria outgrow it on their own by late adolescence and that “transition” procedures, including “reassignment” surgery, fail to resolve gender-confused individuals’ heightened tendency to engage in self-harm and suicide – and even exacerbate it, including by reinforcing their confusion and neglecting the actual root causes of their mental strife.
